__Description__
Let’s take a closer look at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, as it sets an example for stadium urban development. Unlike so many stadiums, which are isolated amidst vast parking lots or separated from their communities by highways, Wrigley Field delivers as good neighbor in a mixed-use context. Its integration into the surrounding community ensures the area will remain a hub of activity, regardless if there is a game going or not.
As cities across the United States begin to reimagine their approach to stadium development, Wrigley Field offers invaluable insights. The video covers the challenges and successes of embedding such a massive sports venue within an urban fabric, highlighting the incremental changes and careful planning that have allowed Wrigley Field to become an inseparable part of its neighborhood. We contrast this with the experiences of other stadiums, including Guaranteed Rate Field, and the evolving dynamics of public funding for stadiums, stadium neighborhood integration, and the economic impact of stadiums on their local communities.
Here’s what other cities can learn from Chicago's experience.

Another one like this is Lambeau field. It does have a lot of parking spaces around it (+ their training fields), but is in the middle of residences and urban development. They also have a bit of mixed use which they have been expanding on in recent years.

If building a Wrigley field means building a stadium without parking lots, then I am not interested. No parking means increased use of public transit - gross, no thanks!

Half the owners dont want the wrigley stadium even tho it is iconic and successful, they want to own the real estate around their field to further maximize profits. Not let the community around them grow with the stadium and in turn, turn it into a destination to visit. So thats why I say no to owners asking for hand outs from the government. They want ALL the benefits without paying back to the community.

In many ways I like the decentralization of the concept. But it would be inefficient in terms of logistics. Because you would have greater distances to travel and increased complexity. But in terms of principle it's close to what's needed. Perhaps some refinement in terms of logistics and have a behavioralist examine it.

having a stadium next door raises property values too. This makes living next to these totally unaffordable. In other words down town stadiums are the most egregious forms of gentrification imaginable, look to nationals park in DC as an example. A new stadium built amongst as well as on top of affordable housing, brought with it thousands of new people willing to pay more for housing. The truth is that building new stadiums in already developed areas is just not a good idea. Hyper-fixating on parking lots and freaking out over walkability is just such a wasteful thing for people to worry about.

The areas around the United Center and Guaranteed Rate Field are the ghetto, that's why nobody lives next to those stadiums, because it's very undesirable to, not because they are cut off by highways, etc. It's always the elitist hipster leftist yuppie gentrification type people who always blame everything on the freeways and on the old city planners of yesterday, and think they can solve what only they see as problem, better than the people of old, but all they do is buy up affordable multi unit buildings in these neighborhoods that house low income earners and they renovate them back into large million dollar single family homes the way they were 100 years ago, and the low income earners are displaced from that area. What problem do these people think they are solving? All they really want to see is a fancy coffee shop and dog park on every corner of every street in ever city. They don't give a damn about the things they claim to.

You should consider doing a video on the Caesar's Superdome in New Orleans. While most other NFL teams are building brand new, monstrosities of stadiums, New Orleans continues to renovate the Superdome, which has saved countless millions and ensures that the Superdome will be relevant for years to come. The Superbowl will be in New Orleans this year. Also, the Superdome is so well strategically placed for fan access, being at the far end of the Central Business disctrict, with the historic streetcar lines running from the area around the Superdome to the river. The fan experience is second to none. I haven't seen a well made video from a channel such as yours discussing the Superdome.

Here in Canada, most of our stadiums are within the city of Toronto, and people usually use public transit to get to the venues, buses, trains, etc. It makes going to the stadium an experience in itself surrounded by local restaurants, vanity ships etc, it's even better for the environment as very few people go to the city with their cars. We are a walking nation.

@7:37 publicly funded bad vs good wrigly privately funded. No it does not seem like it should be opposite. Government is shit at running pretty much anything efficiently. If idiotic democrats understood this you wouldnt have all the crime you have in chicago. Much of which stems from the government handing out checks to people not working and incentivizing non married black families by giving more welfare to those single mothers. More government involvement = more shit.
